Colors by Name

Named colors, sorted alphabetically.

The W3C CSS3 Color Module defines only 16 HTML4 color keywords: aqua, black, blue, fuchsia, gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, silver, teal, white and yellow. However, the following colors are recognized by Microsoft Internet Explorer (and Mozilla Firefox).

Additional Colors

Stanford Cardinal Red has the same definition as Carmine (an old MGB color) – #BE0032. The nearest Web-safe color is #CC0033. The University of Texas defines #CC5500 as the code for UT Burnt Orange. The nearest Web-safe color is #CC6600. Feldspar is not an official color, but appears on a number of lists with the code #D19275. However, both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox render it as code – #FED0A0 – Tan(MS).
